Ramsey Sewage Treatment Works

Currently, Ramsey and Andreas have no sewage treatment facilities and therefore untreated, unscreened sewage is discharged directly into the sea through a sea outfall near to Mooragh Park.

The Manx Utilities Authority have commenced the development of a sewage treatment works at Balladoole for the Ramsey and Andreas catchment areas and the replacement of the long outdated infrastructure below the Vollan on the Mooragh Promenade in Ramsey.

The work will provide an immediate environmental benefit to the north of the Island as it will give Ramsey and Andreas sewerage treatment for the first time ever, with future treatment works discharges to the Irish Sea being treated and screened.

A leaflet detailing the works is available to download.
