Ramsey in Britain in Bloom 2009

In October 2008 The Department of Tourism and Leisure awarded Ramsey a Gold Medal in the "Island in Bloom" Competition and asked Ramsey to represent the Island in the prestigious National Britain in Bloom.

Ramsey first took part in Britain in Bloom in 1981 obtaining a Certificate of Special Commendation.   This was followed in 2002 with a Bronze Award and more recently a Silver Award in 2004.

Ramsey is aiming for a Gold Award in 2009 and to this end is working very hard on the many aspects of the competition requirements.   Parks and gardens are the more obvious parts of the Competition but conservation and environmental awareness also play a large part in the judging process.   Community participation is also a valued aspect of the competition.

Judging will take place during the morning of 11th August.   The judging route has not yet been finalised, but it will include Parliament Street, The Quay, Mooragh Estate, Clifton/Balleigh Park areas, Riverbank Road area, Bowring Road, Bircham Avenue Close, Lezayre Road and Parliament Square.
