The project to refurbish 18 of Ramsey Town Commission's properties in Brookhill Road and Seamount Road has taken a step further with tenders closed at 12 noon on Friday January 22, 2010.
The houses were built in the 1950s and have recently been upgraded to full central heating as part of the Department of Local Government and the Environment framework agreement for public sector housing. Cavity wall and loft insulation has also been fitted, together with new external doors in advance of the further proposed works which include re-roofing, including timber repairs where necessary; external finish in render and dash; rewiring; replacement of steel lintels to ground floor windows; replacement of all eaves, fascias, rainwater goods, soil stacks, etc., with uPVC components, and replacement kitchens and bathrooms.
The scheme is to be project managed by Ramsey-based Dalrymple Associates, in association with quantity surveyors Magee & Co and engineering and planning supervisors Holmes Grace. The estimated cost of the overall scheme is £1.3 million, funded through the Department of Local Government and the Environment, with work scheduled to start in July 2010 with completion due mid-March 2011.
