Ramsey Town Commissioners’ chairman elected at AGM

At the Annual General Meeting of Ramsey Town Commissioners held on Tuesday May 3 Captain Nigel Malpass was elected chairman of Ramsey Town Commissioners for the 2011-2012 municipal year, the second year in succession he has held the post.

 

In a brief acceptance address Captain Malpass said he been ‘extremely proud' to have been elected chairman in May 2010 and was ‘amazed' to have been re-elected for a second term. He added that the past municipal year had proved ‘a delight' to work with his fellow Commissioners and show to ‘the outside world' Ramsey Town Commissioners' commitment to ‘making common sense decisions.'

 

The chairman's re-election was proposed by Richard Radcliffe and seconded by Wilf Young.

 

Sylvia Beattie was elected deputy chairman, having also held the position for the previous municipal year. Mrs Beattie said she believed she and Captain Malpass had ‘made a good team' and thanked the board for their vote of confidence. Proposer was Richard Radcliffe and seconder Kevin Mayne.

 

The AGM also provided the opportunity for Members to join with the chairman in congratulating lead member for parks and leisure Kevin Crowe on having completed 25 years of service to the board and the people of Ramsey.
