RTC Weighs in with support for Ramsey Thriller in the Villa team

Ramsey Town Commissioners have added their support to the Ramsey team entering this year’s Thriller in Villa white-collar boxing competition at the Villa Marina on Saturday October 7.

The team – James Arneil, Vickie Black-Leigh, Juan Callister, Lynsey Christian, Rhiannon Edwards, Donna Grose, Christian Mayers and Stuart Storie -  took time out from their training regime to meet Ramsey Town Commissioners’ chairman Andy Cowie who said: ‘Thriller in the Villa is a very exciting and unusual sporting event with a social purpose, as it raises significant funds for Hospice Isle of Man and Rebecca House, so Ramsey Commissioners are pleased to support both the event and the Ramsey team. Ramsey have won the competition for the last two years and we shall be right behind them on fight night, October 7, in the hope of success again for the team and our town.

‘It’s also great to know that the event’s so popular it’s already sold out which, judging from previous years, means Hospice and Rebecca House are set to benefit from a major boost to their funds.’

Speaking on behalf of her fellow teammates Donna Grose said: ‘We’ve all got strong ties with Ramsey and the north, so are proud to be representing the town and entering the boxing ring for two really great local causes.

‘We’ve all learned a lot over the past months. Thriller in the Villa’s the ultimate challenge and for most of us the biggest thing we’ll have ever done.’

Coach Chris Mayers, who admits to putting the team ‘through hell in the gym’, added: ‘It’s “Ramsey for the treble” so we’re looking for all the support we can for the weigh-in on Thursday October 5 at 7pm at the Mitre pub in Ramsey.’
