We have been saddened to learn of the death on 10th February, 2024, of a former member of the Commission Mrs. Edwina Carlile.
Edwina served two full terms as a member having been first elected in 2004 – which was the first routine general election held for Local Authorities – interestingly at that time a quarter of the Board was female. Edwina was re-elected in 2008. Her focus during her membership was on Housing and she served on the Commission’s Housing Committee as Lead Member and Member for 7 of the 8 years of her membership. She was elected Deputy Chairman of the Commission in 2008/09.
A valued member of the Town’s business community; a very talented pianist and Church organist she will be missed very much throughout the Town.
We record our condolences to her family and trust they will find solace in knowing that Edwina is upheld in our thoughts at this sad time.
