Ramsey Town Commissioners are delighted to announce that the Mooragh Park has been awarded a Green Flag Award by Keep Britain Tidy.
Mooragh Park has a vast range of facilities including a children’s water play park, 12 acre boating lake, playground, flood lit tennis and basketball courts, mini golf putting green, crown green bowling green, outdoor adult exercise equipment, skate park, Ramsey Rugby Club as well as ample free parking, café facilities and a BMX track.
Chairman of Ramsey Town Commissioners, Andy Cowie, commented:
“I am delighted that our Park has been recognised with this prestigious national award. We are rightly very proud of our park, which is one of the key attractions of Ramsey particularly in the summer months. As well as the ornate and attractive plant displays the park provides a wide range of superb sporting and leisure facilities for the town and our visitors.
The park has also become the centrepiece for a large array of successful events including the Gran Fondo, Ramsey Carnival, a variety of Sporting Events, Rotary Sunday Funday and Bonfire night. I would like to express my personal appreciation and thanks, on behalf of the Board, to our Parks teams for their hard work and congratulate them on the award.”
The Green Flag award takes into account environmental, management, planning, operational policies along with community involvement. It is judged by a panel of experts and is the benchmark national standard for parks and green spaces across the British Isles as well as in Europe, Australia and New Zealand.
