Ramsey, Isle of Man – 2^nd July 2024 – Ramsey Town Commissioners are excited to announce the approval of a new mural project inspired by the iconic artwork "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" by Katsushika Hokusai. This mural will celebrate and incorporate local landmarks such as the Queen's Pier, the Albert Tower, and Sky Hill, creating a unique blend of international artistic inspiration and local heritage.

We are now inviting expressions of interest from talented artists who wish to contribute to this exciting project. The mural aims to enhance the visual landscape of Ramsey and celebrate its unique history and beauty.

Project Overview:

Theme: The mural will be inspired by "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" and will incorporate key local landmarks such as the Queen's Pier, the Albert Tower, and Sky Hill.

Location: The mural will be prominently displayed on the West facing wall of the old Swimming Pool in the Market Place area near the South Promenade, a central location within Ramsey. The surface area in question measures circa 76 m².

Artist Requirements:

Proven experience in mural art or large-scale public art projects.

Ability to incorporate both the style of Hokusai's "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" and the specific local elements of Ramsey.

A portfolio demonstrating relevant past work.

Submission Details:

Artists interested in this project are requested to submit the following:

A letter of interest outlining their vision for the mural and how they plan to incorporate the local landmarks.

A current CV or resume.

A portfolio of previous work, particularly highlighting any relevant projects.

At least two references from past clients or projects.

A detailed costing for the proposed work, including materials, labour, and any other relevant expenses.

Deadline for Submissions:

All expressions of interest must be submitted 24^th July 2024. Submissions should be sent to events@rtc.gov.im or delivered to the Ramsey Town Commissioners office at Town Hall, Parliament Square, Ramsey, IM8 1RT.

Selection Process:

Submissions will be reviewed by a panel comprising members of the Ramsey Town Commissioners. Shortlisted artists will be contacted for further discussion and may be asked to present a more detailed proposal.
